Character Name: Sam Winchester
Character Series: Supernatural
Character Age: 27
Background: Here at wiki, and here at the Supernatural wiki; he's taken from season six after the episode "Clap Your Hands If You Believe..." (so yes, I will be playing him with no soul)
Personality: A lot has happened in the six years Sam has spent with his brother Dean since leaving Stanford and dreams of law school behind; enough to change a man. Growing up in the Life was hard enough, but being dragged back into it... Well, it was hell. Literally and figuratively. It was one thing to go back to the life he had so desperately tried to escape - the life that his father made for him - but it was another to lose everything he had built for himself (even if he would find out much later that his new life had been a demon-infested lie as well). Jessica's death was hard enough for him, but it was the catalyst that began a six year long journey that would eventually come to a grinding halt with his descent into Hell.
Above everything, Sam is a passionate and compassionate guy. And despite everything, he tries to stay that way. He's smart, though he has his moments, like the entire Ruby incident, for one. Book smarts, he has. After all, he wasn't on a full ride to Stanford for nothing. He's a research kind of guy (and usually does the intellectual work for Team Winchester). Street smarts? Not so much. But the most important part is that he tries, despite his role as one of Azazel's children (the cause of his mother's death), and despite his role as Lucifer's vessel (the strife that drags the Winchesters into the Apocalypse). All signs point to evil, but he's giving it his best shot to stay good.
He isn't as strong as Dean is, however. He gives into his emotions a lot easier, making him more susceptible to trusting others that shouldn't be trusted (like Ruby and Meg, both demons who used him) and giving into his addiction to demon blood, to the point where can't even quit cold turkey. He relies on Dean like a crutch, at times, to get through the hardest moments, like the deaths (some of which are their own), the Apocalypse, and his own addiction. He works hard at what he does, despite not wanting to do it, because he doesn't like to see people get hurt. His compassion for others is one of the driving forces of the Winchester Team, which he utilizes in their investigation. But most of all, Sam is most compassionate about his family. If it weren't for his father's disappearance, he wouldn't have gone back to the Life; and if it weren't for Dean, he wouldn't have stayed. He even goes as far as to finally accept his role as a Hunter after his dad's because "that's what he would have wanted," despite having fought with his father his entire teenage and adult life.
Sam is the more emotional of the two Winchesters. He doesn't like leaving any bad blood between him and Dean, especially considering how much time they spend together and how they're generally each others only company on the road (until Castiel comes along). Whenever they fight, it's always Sam who tries to initiate an apology; to get Dean to open up and talk about his feelings. Usually, it ends in more fighting, but at the end of the day, it's just the two of them, sitting on the hood of the Impala and cracking open two bottles of beers. Despite everything, life was normal.
And then the Apocalypse happens; something he blames himself for. He blames himself for not being strong enough to defeat Lilith, who's going around breaking the seals to Lucifer's box. And he blames himself for being used by Ruby to kill Lilith, which sets the Apocalypse in motion. But he wants to make things right and fights to keep Lucifer from using him as his vessel to fight Michael. He and Dean exhaust themselves searching for other options, but all signs point to the eventual fight; Lucifer versus Michael, Sam versus Dean. But with Dean out of the running as Michael's sword, it was up to Sam to be strong enough to resist letting Lucifer into his body and not only taking him over completely, but destroying him in the process. He would have to let Lucifer in and repossess his body long enough to jump back into the Box to seal the devil away forever and save the millions of lives that would be destroyed in a pointless squabble between brothers (something he understands all too well).
But he wasn't strong enough. He couldn't resist Lucifer, and after working so hard to obtain the rings of the Four Horsemen, it was all for nothing. It seemed pretty hopeless. It wasn't until he saw the little green army man he had stuck into the Impala's ash tray that he was finally able to regain control of his own body; just one simple memory of his childhood and the overwhelming feeling of family. Whatever it was, it was enough for him enough for him to jump into Lucifer's Box. In the typical Winchester fashion, he gave up his own life for his brother, in hopes that he could do what he, himself, couldn't; escape the Life and live a normal one.
It was divine providence (or the new king of hell, Crowley) that he made it out of the Pit alive. But he was missing something big - his soul. Well, that can change a man too. Without it, he only pretends to care about things, especially Dean. He's a better hunter, sure, but the compassion that made him a better person is no longer there. Instead, he'd rather trade his own brother's life for a closer chance at destroying the Alpha Vampire; something he would have never done before. He's borderline sociopathic and can't even feel a thing. His emotions are only pretend, and the only real thing is his desire to get his soul back. Or is it? His soul has been in hell for a year (an entire year spent with his grandfather, never once altering Dean that he was alive) as Lucifer and Michael's only plaything in the Box. When he gets it back, there will be consequences, and it's unlikely he'll even survive. This information would be enough for him to attempt to kill Bobby just to keep his soul out of his body. But Dean was going to make sure that wasn't going to happen, even if Sam isn't exactly his favourite person at the moment.
Abilities: As a hunter, Sam is equipt with enough physical abilities to get him through the job. He can operate most traditional weaponry and has an extensive knowledge of monsters and how to fight them. He's especially smart, being the only of the Winchester brothers to attend college, and has a great sense of direction and time. He can: pick locks, hack computers, hijack cars, make hexbags, and even read people (non-psychically). He's also a pretty good conman and possesses multiple forms of IDs used to get around the law in order to hunt.
On the less normal abilities, he possesses "psychic" abilities thanks to the demon blood flowing through his veins, given to him by Azazel as a baby. The closer he gets to Azazel or his other "children," the stronger they get. He's given the ability to see the occasional spirit, telekinetic powers, and demonic resistance, but, more importantly, he's allowed to see deaths before they happen, mainly in his dreams. After Azazel's death, however, the powers become dormant, but with Ruby's help, he's able to bring them out and make them much stronger, though he needs to drink demon blood to do so. With his new powers, he has a much stronger telekinetic ability and is able to exorcise demons with his mind (a power he covets as it allows them to kill the demons without harming their "meat suits"). His addiction to demon blood gets too strong and, with Dean's help, he's eventually able to quit. His powers have since disappeared (but will reappear with the consumption of demon blood).
Sample Entry:
[ There's a thoughtful silence on the phone, as if he's picking and choosing his words carefully. As if, anyway. That's hardly it. Oh, and...ignore the muffled noises you might hear in the background.]
Alright, so, help me get up to speed here. You were all kidnapped and taken to this place, you're not sure what's controlling it or what's going on. Weird shit keeps happening around town and people die. A lot. And then when you're not cooperating, they force you to. And at the first sign of a problem, you all start...killing each other.
[ A pause. Very brief, really. ]
Have any of you considered that you really suck at this sort of thing?
note: THIS IS ROBO!SAM, so he's supposed to be a giant douche.
